Good Morning Everyone,

We just did power steering and power brake upgrades on a 1969 Charger RT. I am looking for advice on a good set of headers that will not need modification to install. Car has a stock 440 with A/C and Auto Trans.

Thanks in advance!!
Jim

TTI does list what looks like a good set. At $750, are they worth the money? I've never used them.

Thanks,
Jim

Any header that you don't have to beat and bang on, or modify is worth that money. Hemi headers are $1000

I have the TTI's on my 69 GTX 440, 4 speed PS. Fit perfect first time. I installed them with the car on jack stands in my garage. Slid in with no mods. I'm getting a set for my 68 Charger shortly. The quality is there but to me the ease of installation and fit is what makes them worth the bucks.

Cheap headers with thin flanges will eventually leak. The 2 center ports only have 2 bolts to hold the flange to the gasket. A 5/16" flange with a raised bead of weld will eventually warp.

TTI's are great headers.

I've never tried TTI's but with the glowing reviews I'd say there a nice set...
I have Doug's on my 70 with a 383 in it...They've been on now since 2010 with about 16K on them...They show a little wear and tear and a little rust around the flanges...Best part is when I had to install a new starter it can be done without removing the header or any exhaust...

i never owned a set until this past carlisle. i got a killer deal on a set of 2"/2 1/8" stepped.
they are, indeed, a well made set of tubes. the reason they were so cheap was some BOZO did a HORRIBLE job of clearancing 6 of the 8 tubes just off the flange. really beat them but good ! flame
i'll hafta take a pic of them one of these days.
i'll fix them by sectioning in about a 2" piece of new pipe on the tubes. but for the price, i could'nt leave them there.

I have put TTI headers on all my Mopars that have headers. You can utilize the factory spark plug wire brackets attached to the lower head bolts to help route the plug wires underneath the headers.. Then they will come up from underneath and the boots will attach to the spark plugs rather well with clearance. The closest one really is #5. Be prepared like I have mentioned here for plug wire clearances. Also, get a mini-starter..

TTI, Dougs (Thorley?) and Schumacher headers are made out of high quality thick steel and when their raw headers rust its a surface rust. When the cheap headers rust its a delamination crusty crumbly disintegration rust. Even the super expensive Hooker Super Comps will rot away if not ceramic coated inside and out.

I won't use nothing but tti exhaust. I have a set of 2" headers and 3" exhaust on my 65 coronet; perfect easy fit.

A story on my TTI 2-1/8 Hemi headers. I got them, beautiful. Read the instructions, drivers side, unbolt motor mount, raise engine 2", insert header. Yeah right, like that is going to clear the power steering chuck! I lay under the car cussing the obviously lying S-O-S who wrote the instructions, until I actually tried to insert said header into that impossibly tight cranny. It went right in!!! Unbelievable! I have installed a bunch of headers in my time and this was the first pair that not only went right in, but required no dings, dents, or modifications at all. That sure helped take some of the sting out of the 1K price tag! Quality, U.S. made product that makes my Mexican made Hooker SC's look sad.

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas

Just want to follow up on this. We ordered the TTI headers and
they fit like a glove. I have never had a header install go so
easy, and they included all the gaskets and hardware!! Well
worth the money!!

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year, stay safe.

jim
