Hmmm.... I "thought" only the key had the buzzer, but what do I know??? Mine isn't working and I got really lucky a couple years ago and found an OEM buzzer on e-bag, but haven't installed it yet.

I'm not sure, but I think you need the headlight delay harness for it to work with the headlights. If you don't it will only work with the key buzzer. I will look at my dash tomorrow to see how it is wired.

20 years ago I sold my 71 GTX that had the L42 Headlamp Time Delay W/Warning Signal option. The cost then was $19.45
Only 30 GTXs had the option in 1971

My 70 Super Bee has a buzzer if the lights are left on after the ignition is turned off. I believe it is part of the light package. I think the ignition time delay is a stand alone option.

I had a chance to look at my dash today, but not enough time to really sort out where all wires go. Hopefully over the weekend I can do that and get some pics for you.

No kidding? I have that option.... wish it was the Hemi engine option, but I'll take what I got.

If you look at the diagram in wiring section of SM you can see the harnesses. The Key buzzer is stand alone. Add a Diode harness in to one of the connectors and now the Head Light buzzer is on. Add another harness with a thermal switch (Small Can) and Head Light delay is added.

There were several different buzzers and the wiring switched around from 69 to 70 so you need to ensure you get the right part. Lots of different part numbers and depending on how it is internally wired can cause issues. Also internally pretty easy to get the coil wire damaged. So purchasing can be problematic.

Been messing with it on my 70RR and get weird reactions. The stand alone key buzzer will come on when you open the door even if motor running, so the buzzer is not turned off when ignition is hot.

Added a diode harness and had similar issues with lights, including it was feeding back when light on. The ignition would not go off even if the key was turned off. Had to turn light off to shut motor off? Really weird. Anyway pulled diode harness out, and it functions except that any door opening regardless of ignition switch position has the buzzer go off. Other than key out.

I can see why so many just pulled the buzzer in the day.
