Any reason I can not use one in my old cuda? There was one in the trunk of an old car I just bought and it looks new and tests out good.

I depends on whether it's a "real" marine / deep cycle battery, or just a car battery.
A true deep cycle battery is designed for just what it says--deep cycle, as in, low, long discharge, like running a golf cart, or used in banks for UPS backups or wind/ solar power.
An automotive battery is designed for LOTS of cranking amps for short periods, instead. If you can't tell, take it to a "real" battery place, and by that I don't mean Sears or the nearest xxxx-mart.

They make "real" marine stating batteries also. If it has the CCA you need, just put it in.
If it says "deep cycle" it will start your car but.... not built as a starting battery. It won't last starting a motor for long.

I've had my yellow top optima on my Road runner for over 5 years without a problem. For a car I never drive this battery is perfect.
For free I would try it.

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.
