I went through a couple early on with my car. Then I put a heat resistant sheath on it.... been a number of years now with no issues. It’s heat that kills ‘em. If you got 8-10 years, however; I wouldn’t call that a problem, I’d call that maintenance.

I have only replaced mine once in all the years I have had the car and only because it got too close to the header tube.
Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

i replace mine every 100 years unless it gets burnt by the header. That hit the nail on the head. That's about the only reason most shifter cables go bad......to close or touching a header tube. Ron
