I just go slow and use the palm of my hand. I don't know any good short cuts to offer you.
Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

I would not use a towel and a mallet alone. We installed the ones on my Super Bee by wrapping a towel around a 18" section of 2x4. Lay the 2x4 along the trim and hit it lightly with the rubber mallet to roll it over the lip.

On my car, a 66 Belvedere, drip rail trim is wider for vinyl top vs no vinyl top. I took off the vinyl and had to get different trim to fit correctly.
I am thinking it is the same for a 68 b-body as I have tried just about everything to get this on and its just shy of making it. Someone must know for sure.

The 2x4 lays the long way. A 4x4 will work as well. You dont have to hit it hard to get it to work.

Look in the parts book and see if it specifys a w/ vinyl top part number and a w/o part number. If it does, there's your answer.
I tried that but I don't see where it lists the Drain Trough Mouldings.

68 RT The numbers for no vinyl top are 2840-282,2840-283 and the numbers for vinyl top are 2841-504 and 2841-505.
Where did you find these numbers? I went through my entire parts manual and didn't see them.
So they are different. I wonder if anyone is make the wider ones?
