I've been noticing the intake air temp on motor can get upwards of 140 degrees if I'm idling and at speed only gets down to 112 degrees on an 85 degree day. Do you guys think a dual inlet 440 air cleaner would be a restriction on a 512? Thanks.

Maybe above 5k rpm orsomething like that.
You could always hook a sensitive light vacuumgauge on the airfilterhousing and find out.
Or measure the inlets combined surface-area and calculate it's max. flow.

engine masters did a test on a bunch of filter housings, this was one of them.

Dual snorkel is a restriction on a 440!

I took mine off, sold it and went to open element.

And enjoyed all the hot air under the hood your engine could handle.

The theory is that the hot air in the engine compartment is no better than a cold air intake. But a 440 mopar never had a cold air intake other than a 6 pak. Open element is still best all around solution on the cheap. Mopar action found that out with the scatdak (air cleaner made bigger difference than intake!) Be sure to watch the engine masters episode that was mentioned earlier- was on youtube but on motortrend.com now. Puts a lot of conventional wisdom out on its ear.

How is that different than a dual snorkel?! Both pulled underhood air in my case.

Well the dual snorkle I had ran a duct to the fenderwell and drew cold air from there, but it wasn't on a 440. It was an M body cop car and it was factory.
