Time to order belts for the Valiant. I have never used either type, which one is better/easier to get in and out of?

Thanks! wave

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.

Why they even make the latch any more I can't say. It's stupid for sure. My first set was latch. It was worthless.

That was 1986

Cam. The price difference is chump change considering how much easier they make your life. Buy from a company that will reweb/recert them so you don't have to buy a new set in 3 years and throw good hardware away.

No kidding. All i have ever used. Unlatch quick, never have to worry if the belts are all hooked up. And frankly cheaper with the same cert and safety rating
Slower to put on, but i never ever rush myself putting on belts and helmet anyhow.

^^^^^^ good enough for fighter jets, good enough for me. If they are troublesome, you're uncoordinated, get out of that race car!

In a tight car, latch belts are a PIA. Have to stack all the ends on the lap belt and get it into the buckle. Yes, I've put them together, only to find that one end was loose when I tried to cinch them down. Then you have to start all over. Cams you can do in the dark or with a helmet on.

Never had an issue with latch belts even upside down once. I was just wondering if I missed something.

I've used both since 1978. I've had both types that had horse &&&t designs.

I've always had the latch style and its never been a problem. With that being said if my belly gets any bigger the cam lock style may be easier. Lol

Mine are cam locks, a simple twist is all that's needed to get me out. If I'm on fire or upside down I want simple.

I drove an ex pro stock Monza for a summer back in the 90's. It had camlock belts.I'll agree that they were very nice to hookup and release, until they didn't release. It's a good thing I wasn't in trouble, just trying to get out of the car. Long story short, there was a set screw that held everything together that backed out. It was under the manufacturer's sticker on the front of the cam. We had no idea it was there or needed to be checked. Never used camlock type after that.

Wow, we look like a pretty lazy bunch. My latch takes all of about 8 seconds to belt up. Comes apart just as quick as any cam. Are you guys in some sort of hurry while you’re sitting in the staging lanes? I’ve latched myself into my buddies cam system more than once.... easier? Maybe / maybe not. I think it’s just personal preference.

I've used both and will use what is in the car.
I do take my time hooking them up with the seat belt adjusted tight with the shoulder harness looser, I do pull them both down as tight as I can get them before pulling out of the staging lanes also up
