Hi everyone,

Well our season started off very nice with two wins at our first event. Although it is a long Points season ahead of us still.

For the ones who don't know. We run a 650ci Goodwin Billet 5" Hemi. In these videos the engine ran right around 9000rpm.

Turn up the volume and Enjoy!

Awesome truck and congrats on the wins. Its hard to believe that a 650 ci can turn 9000 rpm and live. But boy it sounds great, thanks for sharing.

I would guess at least 1,400hp. It sure runs good! Nice job!

I was just wondering about you last week, hadn't seen you around. Awesome start to the season, keep up the good work in a sea of Ferds and Chebies. Or is that a sea a Ferds with Chevies. laugh2

What I want to know though is what you use for a transmission and what gears you use in that trans for a pull.

This engine makes 1600++hp at 8300 and 1125 torque at 7300.

It is on par if not stronger then the best Sonny 650ci engines for Truck Pulling.

For us we use a Modified Powerglide Tranny. Set up to run only in direct. We have a Quick change transfer case that we do all our ratio changes. Takes about 5 min to change to just about what ever final drive we want for the track we are at. With the tranny running in high there isn't a big chunk of stress there. Most of it is in the rear ends which are 7:20 in the rear and 6:80 in the front. In the rear we run a SQHD which is pretty much what you have in the back on a Semi. The 2 1/2 ton Rockwell stuff doesn't seem to live long after the 1400hp mark on good tracks.

Others use a Centrifugal Clutch set up, with a reverser off the transfer case. .

Maybe it's just me but I feel a better name for this thread title should be "Why everyone needs a 650 Goodwin Hemi"
