Hi guys, , I was going to place my trans brake button on my steering wheel but one issue is the spokes aren,t where I usually place my hand, I could learn to hold my hand alsewhere on the wheel, or replace the wheel. The other thought is behind my shifter, as I built a stand for it and it would be comfortable there. So I,m thinking hold the button floor it , let go reach up and shift. I have the biondo button .o3 delay so the button is quite long. What are your thoughts as I,ve never used a trans brake before, thanks Tim

I agree with cab. sit in your car and try to find the most comfortable place. I like mine down by the shifter in my dads duster but in my cuda i like it on the steering wheel.
I've always let go of the button the reached up to shift 2nd. It's a natural motion.

Mine is on the roll cage above me. I have one set up for left hand and one for the right hand depending who is driving.

It's a matter of personal preference. My dad, and youngest brother like thiers on the wheel. Mine MUST be down by the shifter, I've never been able to cut a light with buttons on the wheel, it's really a noticeable difference in my case.
My Challenger has a funny car cage, and you sit low, so the button mount ended up on the passengers side of the tunnel, even with the shifter. In my Valiant, the seat is off the floor, so I took the two large bolts that run through the top portion of a Cheetah SCS Shifter, attached a flat bar running back from those about 4 inches behind the shifter, and mounted the button to that. To just look in the 2 cars, it appears to be 2 completely different locations, but I can drop my arm down without looking, and immediately find them, as the location relative to where I'm sitting is identical.

It really helps to have it where your comfortable, I have the same button on my steering wheel on the left side. Its recessed on a bracket so its not in the way. I rest my left arm on the door ledge with my hand on the wheel, thumb on the button.. nice and steady, works for me

Well I have been a floor/shifter mount guy forever. However in the Barracuda the I could not find a comfortable place to mount it on the floor or near the shifter. The F/C cage was an issue with my arm length and size. Like Billy I had never been able to cut alight with one on the wheel but I have concurred that and am now comfortable with it there. But I really would prefer the floor. Or one of those Trans Trigger deals....

I have mine mounted on the steering wheel and just installed a plug similar to the distributor plug for whenever I am turning.

I use a plug also, I use a 1/4" head phone style plug that plugs into the dash forward of the wheel just above the steering column. On the switch end it has a couple of tie wraps that take any load if you were to pull on the wire... plus I use the coiled type of wire that you can stretch out

Very good suggestions guys, I think the most comfortable position is where it will go. My shifter tower is home built, the right hieght and lots of room, I think I got it. Thanks Tim

Wherever you end up mounting it I would make sure you are using arm movement as opposed to just a finger or thumb movement as arm movement is proven to be faster than finger or thumb movement alone. Large muscle groups move faster than small muscle groups. It is also said that most individuals have a faster reaction time using the left arm even if right handed due to the path of nerves from the brain to the arm on your left side is a shorter path. I use my right arm....???? Frank Hawley has some very interesting theories and facts on driver mindset that is pretty cool. Rickster

The fun part is going to be figuring out when to let go of the button, and then how much delay I can back out of it or add. I left footbreaking in the middle of the 3rd yellow, but I,m thinking the first sign of 2cnd or3rd yellow would be much better and more consistent not in the middle, Tim
