Hey gang.. I'm thinking of doing a bulk plating on a bunch of small things here and there with a friend to split the cost.. The two types of plating I was thinking of doing are:
clear cadium (similar to zinc): -strikers and shims -back of heater box -shifter mechanism under console -hood latch -door window mechanisms for example
zinc phosplate (dark gray) - front drum backing plates - tie-rod sleeve etc..
Any more suggestions of the top of ya'lls head.. I'd like to get everything done at once...
Cheers, Troy

Actually thats not the link I expected, there was a multi page thread about correct plating floating around but I can't find it right now...
Hey Randy... Thanks.. That's a good start... I remember that article, but of course, can't place my hands on it now.. So, in the meantime, I'll save this link...
Cheers.

Troy, I would recommend doing clear zinc and not cadium on your parts. Cadium is more toxic and you will have a harder time getting it done and it will cost you more.
FYI.. the backside of the heater box is supposed to be bare steel
The local plater here has a minimum charge of $100, regardless of the plating material. So, Cad and zinc would be the same, it's just a function of what would be more appropriate on the most number of items. I could go either way, hence my question to the masses. I appreciate all of your suggestions. I can't afford to get every component plated in the exact way it was before. I'm trying to get the freshest look and most protection as possible. The rear of the heater box will be done primarily for corrosion control. As we know, once installed, one can't see it...

I highly recommend Eric Manuel on the board - username 3404 - to get the correct plating, done quickly and at a very reasonable cost.
I was thinking of him doing my door latches. I hear he does good work. Regarding the other stuff, I would think it would be a logistic nightmare to send all I have via the post office and be out of control. Locally, I take it, I pick it up...
