As I was putting the center link in between the pitman arm and the idler arm I noticed the center link was tilted up towards the ilder arm and not horizontal as I expected. Other pictures of B-body undercarriages show a slight tilt in this direction but not as severe as mine looks right now (see picture). I have not tightened the nuts in the picture and that is why it looks exagerated....however I suspect my new (spicer) idler arm might be wrong. Second picture shows how close the top of the tie rod is to the torsion bar (almost touching). Once I tighten these I expect the tie rod end to go down about 1/4 inch or so but it will go up slightly when I tighten the idler arm nut. Anyone experience this or have an idea on how close the tie rod is from the torsion bar on a stock car?

There's definitely something going on there.. I believe it's your idler arm.. If no one posts a pic before I can break away from playing Mr. Mom, I'll take a pic of the original idler arm to my '68 in position on the k-member and see what it looks like....

Edit:
Here's a picture I just took... It's what was on the car when I got it and I have no reason to doubt it's not original...

Is that link symmetrical? I think, maybe just the early cars, but it can be put on backwards. Is this perhaps the case?

The angle of the idler arm looks incorrect to me. Note the angle in the 2 photos posted. Every center link I have, and can remember seeing on a car, has been horizontal.
