Done it before...67 440 block but the others had a nut to get to under the switch cannister. The one I need to remove looks like a socket would go over it but 1 1/16 is too big and 1.0 inch is not working. Is it a goofy metric ? any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance...thanks MOPARTS

You might grab your vice grips with the angled serrations & a rag & grip it just tight enough so you can break it loose & leave minimal damage (if that is critical). I believe there is a special socket for this.

Yes, there is a special socket made for oil pressure sending units.

I've also used a water pump pliers successfully in a pinch.

They make special socket for oil sending unit removal, but a deep well 1 1/16 6 point socket will do the job. 12 point sockets won't work, the sending unit has no corners the 12 point has to grab. The 6 point grabs on the flats. Gene

I bought the special socket for this about 25 years ago. It was less than 10 bucks back then, probably pretty cheap still.

I never bought the special socket, I've always used my 6 point deep well 1 1/16" socket from my 1/2" socket set. Gene

I bought a that socket many years ago and only used it one time. Never needed it again that I remember.
