More involved than you think. Are you going flatbed or pickup?

Dana 60 or 44 front?

there was a discussion on diesel truck resource I bookmarked it when I had just bought our '03 after looking for a drw 4x and landing a srw 4x.
Spacers they mention are available from various vendors, but, not required if you buy a complete diff from a yard.

Doing this change over to a pickup, in front i think i can use spacers from a dually. on rear replace rear axels or install spacers. I wonder if its really worth it? Will it make it more stable for towing a trailer?

I can happily report that I've been using our 'o3 since I bought it used for towing regularly including several (>15) long distant trips moving while loaded to the gills. Also, regularrly use it towing a laden travel trailer while on vacations, hunting trips and other journeys. All w/o dwd. I've never had an issue and just eclipsed 200k mi adding over 130k from when I bought it. I keep up on maintenance and change the diff oil and additive (have a factory locking 3.73). The diff is noted to be "free floating".
Depending on what you're using it for I would go with the stock diff and save your # for if there is a problem. I've not heard a lot of issues from other owners.

Nothing wrong with towing with a single rear wheel truck if it has the load capacity.

However they are just not as stable as a dual rear wheel truck.

Personal choice I think. 8 sidewalls in the rear vs 4 sidewalls will increase towing stability somewhat. Agree with that.

Still, single tires chosen well can work fine also towing. Pick a 10 ply rated tire with stiff sidewalls. Tire Rack has good reviews on LT tires. Inflate well also. With that, your single tires should handle anything your truck can reasonably tow.

Personally, I would not mess with the conversion.

Also worth noting, dual rear is not so good in snow. Single is better, especially when running light.

I have a Dually and they are great to pull with, but most loads I would be OK with a single axle. If you do need a dually I would probably try to find a clean used dually and trade yours for it instead of trying to convert.

I wont even try to drive my Dually in the snow. I keep highway tires on it and it would be a horrible experience.
