I just swapped from a 2 bbl (small Holley, BBD equivalent) to a Performer and AFB combo in my truck.
I want to be able to still use the Cruise. Is the Cruise Control cable different for a 2 BBL, vs. a 4 BBL? it appears that the cable sticks out farther from the housing on the 4 BBL one. (but I didnt have my truck next to the van when I pulled the carb to be sure) Can anyone out there say for sure?

not much help,,, but I know that the main throttle shafts are different in vans and trucks. the vans hookup about 1/2" further forward than the trucks..

I am truckless..

Just customize. Attach the cable so it has just a tad bit of slack at base idle adjustment and you're good to go.

Are you using a 4-bbl bracket?

When I converted my 87 Diplomat to 4bbl I had to swap teh lever from the old 2bbl to the linkage adapter Ebrock sells. This bracket it what teh cable hooks to on the carb itself. Other than that it was a simple swap as far as cruise goes, but I did use the 4bbl linkages and such, not the 2bbl ones.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

When you convert to a 4 bbl carb the carb lever is further forward than the 2 bbl. Chrysler used a completely different cable bracket, cable, and if cruise control is used the bracket that holds the cruise cable is different too. The downshift rods and throttle cable are different-longer. If you don't have the factory parts you will need to change or rework a lot of things for it to operate properly.

I have the 4 bbl bracket AND the Eddy Mopar carb adaptor bracket. I have modded the KD linkage to work but the cruise cable for a 4 BBL seems like it oughtta have more cable sticking out past the housing the way the CC cable attatches to the 4 BBL bracket (the "hold down" is behind (closer to firewall) on the 4 BBL setup than for the 2 BBL version. I'm going back to that yard tomorrow anyway so I guess I'll get the CC cable from that van to be sure. (Hopefully a van one will be long enough for a pick up)
