I have read some post on this subject but don't really understand what the adapters do. I have the duel bolt pattern heads. Could someone explain?
I would like to run LA headers on a W2 head with the dual bolt pattern.

Some headers have a flange that does not fit W2 or stock heads. There is a plate that bolts on the heads to mate the header to the head. One for W2 one for standard.

For your application you might have to fabricate a plate as long as the headers would still fit, spaced out from the heads somewhat.

You better lay a gasket on the head to so if what you want to do is possible. That may be one heck of a restriction. I ran it the other way on my Duster

I have a set of those, will post a pic later. The problems you need to be aware of are the header tube clearances down stream of the flanges because they will be located slightly different with the added flanges. Starter, steering box and shaft, clutch Z-bar, etc. can be a problem. 4 speed cars especially. DAMHIK!

If you have the dual bolt pattern on your exhaust port then the LA headers bolt right to your head, and you dont need the adapter plates Scott showed

The adapter Scott posted (same pattern as the adapter in my post) mounts a non stock race header pattern shown here
