My son got a good deal on some Welds, 15 X 8 with a 5.5 back space. Will this fit on a duster without minitubbing it and what is the biggest tire you can get in there with no minitub??
I have a set of 285 60 Mcrearys, wondering if anyone has done it. We sill end up minitubing it soon, and prob narrow the rear, i want to make it fit 10.5 W's eventually since they are so cheap as take offs on the Q8 cars

I have a 29.5 - 10.5 15 m/t slicks on a 10 inch rim 5 inch b/s

my dana 60 is 53 inchs long backing plate to backing plate

stock location springs , calterac setup NO minitubb

it depends on what rear you have !

DOC DIFF /CASSIE has a 1/2 off set shackel kit if you need too without minitubing the car

4.5 backspace is what usually fits dusters.I think the 5.5 will hit the springs. If you mini tub and move the spings in they might work.If you do that a 15x12 wheel will work.

If it's stock width it should be about 59.5" it should work almost perfect in a duster with the 5.5" backspace wheels and the larger wheelwell that it has.

If you want the rear a bit narrower than a stock A body rear have the housing cut and run 2 pass side axles, it comes out to 56 7/8", a stock A body rear is 57 1/4"

When I first started, I wasnt going to mini-tub my car and I fit the 275 hoosier drag radial on a 10" rim up in the well pretty nice, but that was the biggest tire that was going to tuck thats for sure

You won't need to cut the axle to fit a 10.5W. My old Duster had a stock width 8 3/4 with 10" rims and a 29x10.5W. It was mini tubbed with the springs moved in though.

and run 2 pass side axles,

all of the A body 8 3/4 axles I have seen(1967 to 1971) and measured are the same length, stock or aftermarket race axles, what year axles are you talking about?

He's putting an 8.8 from a ford explorer in it, the dr side axle is 2 7/8" longer than the pass side axle and the center section is offset, if you run 2 pass side axles it narrows the rear 2 7/8" and moves the center section back to the center of the rearend. On the width I'm going by flange to flange not housing width.

I did the same swap in my car and it's a pretty decent rear for the price, I would have liked to put an 8.75 under it but it's not in my budget.

on a side note, 275 drag radial in a 73 dart without minitub, is that doable? dr. diff 1/2" kit necessary? and cal-tracs will work with that wont it?

My 1973 Dart Sport {same as duster} had a stock 8 3/4 from a dart swinger 340 car.
15x8 ralllies with 4.5 back sapce wraped in 275/60/15 BFG Drags
But I have Moser axles and 11x2.5 drums on the rear from a C Body and green bearings.
They made the offset of the axles for the wider brakes and drums. I have 5/8-3/4 inches from the side walls to springs
BFG Drags are a little wider than a regular 275

Ours is a 275/60 on a 10 inch wheel with 5.5 backspace. We do have the offset shackles that move the springs in 3/4 inch.

We have a 255/70/15 which is 29.2 inches tall mounted on old mopar 15x7 Cop rim on my brothers 68 valiant.

A-body 8 3/4, Cal-tracs, Springs in stock location.

Clears OK. A little lip massaging wouldn't hurt, but it fits fine.
