Looks and sounds good. Just out of curiosity, why wasn't the vacuum pump used in the video?

That video happened to be the first pull. The pump belt was put on after a couple of pulls.

Thanks for the compliments. Just wanted to build something different. Tired of all of the Chevy's & Fox Body Mustangs everywhere at all of the tracks. Gets old, gets boring.

I picked up a Shaker hood. Next project is to make a custom drop base & a larger/taller Shaker scoop to fit the tunnel ram & dual Dominator carbs.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do w/ that shaker scoop! I'd like to have one for my car, even though I love my cowl hood. Mike Ford's old KOS challenger (plum crazy w/ a single carb B1 motor IIRC) had a raised shaker scoop that I always thought was cool. Harry Schilling has one on his burgundy/maroon hemicuda too that looks good.

I just can't bring myself to do the cowl hood as good as they look on E Bodies. I have thought about doing an extra tall T/A style hood like 340Rick had or a 5" tall Six Pack style hood.
Yeah, I always dug Mike Ford's old Purple Challenger's set up. I do have to stretch the rear of the hood opening to clear the rear carb so the base & scoop will also be stretched & raised to match the opening.

I'm assuming you'll just attach the scoop to the hood? Is the hood a fiberglass lift-off?

Nope, I am still making it a true shaker. The Scoop & base will mount to the engine. The hood is a Fiberglass bolt on. I am going to still use the factory Hood Pins but I know I will also need more to keep the front from ripping off of the car, so I am going to make a mount to attach some Butterfly Dzus fasteners from up underneath that will mount from the hood latch area that will be accessible reaching in towards the grille.

That sounds like it'll be very nice! I'm sure you've seen them already, but the way Schilling's is done...he raised the area around the scoop on the hood up and then left the shaker itself looking more stock height. Mike Ford's was all done by making the scoop itself taller. I think Schilling's hood looks better.

Schiling's looks pretty good like that. I am going to try to leave the hood at it's stock height and since I am stretching the opening towards the rear a few inches the taller scoop should look more proportional since it will be longer also.

Will do. I am gathering the rest of the parts now. I found the scoop from one source. The base plate and adapter ring from another source and the seal, fasteners, and of course the shaker decal and other bits from a third source.
