hey scottb, did you dethrone B3 as the new president of the Moparts A$$ kissing club? Don't like what I said?, go hang somewhere else. FYI, I still own Mopar so will do as I please but will tell you this, most chevy guys I've met recently are way nicer then folks here. You can KMA

Sorry Ryan you've got the facts mixed up. No BBC #'s there. That is what the W5 pulled in a 23 tbucket 3 times before it melted the head...
I think those calculators are close for cars that are well sorted out. when my motor let go I was just starting to tune the chassis and feel it would've gone 1.22 60', 8.90 @ 152 but that is JMO. If I had a 3 speed probably would've seen 8's long ago as it was a soft leaver w/1.76 low. Needed more SLR
If I were and engine builder and could not produce big #'s I'd blame the dyno too...
remember the race is to the finish line, my old junk is STILL the quickest/fastest W5 on moparts.

Yep. I don't think anyone ever claimed to have a faster or quicker W5 car than yours, at least on this board. I have seen a very light Sundance tube chassis run in the 8's with 5's NA. And looking at the MPH and weight in the calculator your old 422 W5 was the most powerfull one I have seen on this board as well. I don't think anyone ever disputed that, and I don't know why you are so defensive about it. Maybe someone said something to you about it in the past that I don't know about... Dunno. It certainly should have made power, it's big inch, big head, sheetmetal intake, dry sump and injected methanol. I'd be disapointed if it did'nt make power. I'm just stating that based on weight and MPH it probably is'nt the most powerfull 59* motor out there, it's pretty darn close but.. I'm looking for the best, not the closest. So hopefully you feel better now that you've heard me say that it is probably the most powerfull W5 motor I've seen to date. I guess that is what you wanted to hear
Rt66Jim pretty much summed up the intent of the post, much better than I could have.
So back to our regularly shceduled post..... any takers Weight/MPH with Quick 59* motors?

Ryan Ryan Ryan I could not disagree more with this logic. comparing my car ( leaf springs dot tires exhaust ) to a gutted out bracket car ( 4 link or ladders big tires trans brake sealed carb to hood etc. Is just as bad as comparing one dyno to another. Its apples and oranges Also i have never had my car at a track with a DA less than like a 1800 ft. Dyno #'s are corrected If I were to take my car down to maryland where 440Jim runs in the spring or fall when its 50* at sea level with a high barometer im sure i could pick up several tenths if not more not to pick on Jim by any means but he will tell you what a differnce it makes running at the mopar nats or norwalk compared to his home track. Its several tenths or more. Does that dudes car run 9.40s on a 40* day with a 35mph tail wind one time or does it run that # year round??????/ Also I had my car out last week and it went a 136.75 mph at 3200lbs no change in ET's but more MPH i think because it spun the tires. I think its hard to compare anyones car to another to many diffs.

that's why the calculator uses MPH, not ET. chassis setup shouldn't affect MPH too much. they'll kill your launch, which affects etc. try it next time you're at a test & tune by varying your launch. go for a hard launch, then a light launch...you're ET might vary widely, but your MPH will probably be very close.
Ryan- I'd assume then that the moroso calculator is actually calculating power to the pavement, not flywheel HP? or does it have some algorithm in it to accomodate drivetrain loss, at which case, then it looses accuracy, as a manual trans probably has a good 15-20HP efficiency gain over a 904, which has a good 15-20hp efficiency gain over a 727....

That's been my experience.... soft launches vs. hard launches, and even some gearing changes, that had a big impact on ET still ran extremely close (if not identical) MPH.

All I know is Dwayne Porter's dyno also seems to be fairly consistent with the Moroso calculator, whereas another dyno I used previously probably showed an easy 10% above what the Moroso calculator comes up with.
3700#s and 122.5 MPH = ??? HP... somewhere around 520, maybe? Would have probably made around 540 HP on Dwayne's dyno (no accessories and open exhaust, vs. run in the car w/ full exhaust system, etc.), yet made 590+ HP on the other dyno.

soooo you're claiming a .99 60' from a car that ran 1.7xs ? Not to mention it is as light as a go-kart
cbk, who said anything about 1.7xs??? go carts weigh 500lbs, the tbucket was 1800. Have you even made a pass in your car yet?? I know, I know, your still getting used to it right
Ryan, you knew where this thread would go. I am a bracket racer, in fact I would race my lawnmower if my neighbor called me out... Your title is/was a challenge to me anyone with a fast 59* motor. I'm proud of this one because I owned it and practically resurrected it from the grave. It was the [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] stepchild that no one wanted, full of cement and all. I gambled and it paid off. I hope the peanut gallery is good at something cause they are terrible bench racers
I completely forgot some important data I gathered 3 years ago. When I was trying to dial in the fuel injection I put the car on a chassis dyno. Unfortunately I lost that stuff in the move but will have the info from the pulls early next week.
So what % should we use for drivetrain loss? IIRC, this should get interesting...

please be clear next time.
I was clear, please work on your comprehension skills.
If you need furthur explanation, 1.76 is the low gear in my glide, not 60' time, that would be more like yours...
backwoods dyno, I assure you Mr Richardson has probably forgotton more about sbm then most ever knew. He epitimizes the abscent minded professor...

Mega-man....some of us may not know who you are but I am pretty sure most of don't care anyway....The things you blurt out make no sense to any of us on here...the topic was high powered 59 deg sbm....then you bash talking about an 1800 lb go-cart or something of that matter....now as the topic was power I would bet my years salary that my edelbrock headed 59 degree sbm could twist the guts out of your W-whatever sbm......
