If you are talking about the rod that goes through the firewall there is a stud on the pedal assembly and a stud on the "Z" bar, slip the ends over each stud and put a clip on them. http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.php?prod=CLC085

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

There should be two bushings on the clutch fork rod end, one is steel with a slot to fit over the clutch rod for alignment and a tapered lock nut for adjusting the clutch fork between it and the Z bar end of the cross shaft and the other is hard plastic bushing with a flat surface on the Z bar end and tapered to fit into the clutch fork and the steel washer bushing IHTHs I use the Mopar A body kit due to it having the longest clutch rod I'm not sure if they still sell it, I hope they do If your talking about the shaft from the clutch pedal to the Z bar you need to keep in mind who assembled the cars back when

Here's a tip: When you install the two clutch linkage rods, don't put any grease on the pins or the D of the rod. It needs to be bare steel on steel - per the Service Manual.
Due to its location, the clutch rods will pick up road dirt. The dirt will stick to the grease and will become an abrasive, actually causing the parts to wear quicker.
You will find this in Section 0, Lubrication, at the very end in the paragraph titled, "Parts Requiring No Lubrication".

The original Z bars had Teflon washers on them for the clutch pedal rods lubrication, not sure about the clutch pedal ends

After a lot of miles that D shape gets wallowed out and bigger. Many moons ago I filled the extra space in the D with broken pieces of a small brass bushing. The washers held the pieces in. Worked good. Cost nothing.
I too always wondered why that piece was D shaped.
