Hi think I heard on Moparts that Harlan Sharp will clearance your rockers even more if you ask them to. I did mine myself sanding rolls carefully

I have used several different sets of Harland Sharp single shaft rockers on different sets 440-1 heads in 1.65 ratio I have one set of 440-1 that I bought used from a member on here that came with a set of Jesel pair shaft rockers in steel that are 1.55 ratio, that motor has not been ran yet so no actual live feed back, sorry. I have never used any of Comp rockers systems either so no feed back on them.

Does comp even offer rockers for 440-1's? I have used Ersons, Dove, TD and Harland Sharp. Ersons were great and reasonably priced, unfortunately not made anymore. Doves lasted for 2-3 years in our use, might work with a flat tappet or smallish street roller. For what ever reason, we had nothing but problems with TD, the pushrods didn't like to stay in the cups. HArland Sharps worked great, and I too clearanced them myself.

T&Ds having push rods popping out of the cups...Why is this?
I know of a couple of racers having the same issues with 440-1s with single/common shaft T&Ds.

Probably improperly valve lash setting. With a cup you can get away with it but to much lash with a ball ball pushrod will bite you in the butt.

It's possible although they did not hit, and there was absolutely no signs in the pushrods that they had rubbed anything. I do not blame the rockers, the real reason may be whatever; too little spring pressure or something else. Anyway, that's what happened and it always went in to the shaft side..., making the rocker ratio interesting. No such problems with any other rockers with the same set up. In our B1's TD's single shaft solved all the valvetrain problems.

[4/quote] The single shaft T&D rocker's are a compromised design, just like any other off the shelf single shaft rocker. The adjuster angles are not correct, and that causes excessive angular it in some instances. It doesn't take much for the pushrod to come out, especially if there is any instability causing valve float.
To the OP, it would be worth considering a set of the rockers shown in the pic. They are T&Ds made to my spec, and the angles are spot on when correctly installed. With a .720"ish solid roller, it had less than a .045" sweep on the valve tip. Well worth considering if you want it right.
