Back in the 80s the Doug Nash 3 plus 1 manual tranny was kind of popular if not desired. Later they were bought by Richmond. The way the tranny was geared allowed you to run around a 3:10ish ring and pinion but you would accelerate as if you had 4:00ish rear gears and the OD gave good highway RPM. Anyone run one? After all is said in done how does the cost compare to the current options? (Gearvendors, Keisler)

Keep old mopars alive.

I run one that was bought as a Nash. It had and issue with staying in low and reverse (design error), but got the parts from Richmond and all is good now. I think it is a very good option and it holds the 600hp twin turbo 340 just fine, as long as I have enough clutch. (I have the 4 +1).

As I remember it, it was a 1 to 1 5th gear.
It had lower ratio's in 1st.
And, if I remember correctly it did not stand up to big blocks. I think it was rated at 500 ft lbs.
Then, anothe rcompany bought them out. It may still be available through another name.
Instead of running 4.10 gears, you could run like a 3.23 but still launch good with its ratio's.
