Because they have xenon bulbs and that means all new wiring to adapt to the factory wiring. Ballasts and diodes to keep them from blinking on and off instead of staying on steadily as well as higher prices for the bulbs. They look a bit ricer to me.

I put a 4 pack on my newport but i got the led ones that come as a kit with glass housings and a Philips bulbs pack they were plug and play except for the halo/angel eye light that i just wired in with the side marker lights i did the swap for better visibility with newer cars on the road with hids bright as hell its hard for me to see against there glare brighter lights on my end cancels out oncoming light intensity so i can see better just my 2cents

It doesn't look right on that Chevelle IMO. Maybe it's the fact that they blink with the turn signals. Maybe they look weird to me because the four headlight system uses smaller bulbs and the halos take up too much area.

I bought some "WHITE" halo lights for my Dart. They just have 4 LEDs in each bulb. They were around $50 on E-bay. They won't fit the stock headlight buckets without modification. I bought another set of buckets at the Nats and modified them to fit the lights. The wiring for the halos goes into the housing around the perimeter and is sealed with a big glob of sealer. I had to notch the buckets to clear that sealer.

I plan to wire them up to the blue ignition "run" wire so they are on all the time. If I don't like the look, I'll just mount them on my garage wall in the original grill.

I agree. Call me old school but there are just some things that shouldn't be done to a classic muscle car. First and foremost is big wheels and rubber band tires. Second... gimmicks like halo lights.

If you want brighter headlights and tail lights, there are readily available solutions like using relays or LED bulbs. Adding crap like flashing or color changing halo lights is just juvenile IMHO.

And.... before someone asks if I like them on the new Challengers... the answer is NO. However, they are factory and are NOT on a classic so no harm no foul.

They would probably look better on a single per side headlight car, like a Cuda. Not really my favorite accessory but it also depends on the overall look car.

On a bone stocker I don't like them but if you've done some kind of a pro touring or restomod theme they can work.

Factory applications look appropriate, anything aftermarket is just plain cheesy.

Point is, even if I was given a set, they would never end up on a car of mine. twocents

I went with RedLine Lumtronix Halos and LED H4 bulbs, love it so far, installed but haven't driven it yet. Great customer service and glass lens and the LED H4's put out lots of light and draw very little power so you don't have to mess with the factory wiring or add ballasts, ect... plug and play.

There is a lot of good info in this thread. The poster tries several of the setups.
