I remember reading a post a few years ago where one of two of these aftermarket bumper suppliers was better then the other because they were chromed in the US ( Michigan?) vs. overseas or Mexico or something like that. I can't recall the exact info, does anyone remember?

If I send a set to Tri-city, will they work out the dings and dents that a 40 year old bumper gets? I'd love to have the original bumpers back for the car. The front is actually pretty nice. The rear has a dent in the corner and a couple dings along the face. Just curious.

I've used Tri City with excellent results. On my Demon,I may go with aftermarket bumpers, mainly because its a street/strip car now.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

I have a set of Goodmark's for a 69 RR. For a driver you can't beat them for a show car or all out resto you probably want to replate a good set of cores. HOWEVER, if you don't use a top notch shop and pay stupid money, chances are you'll end up with a lower quality finish than the Goodmarks.
Here are the issues with mine. On the front bumper the grind/buff/polish/plate in one of the horizontal creases is less than perfect in one area. You need to get down and look at it straight on to see it. On the rear there is a small spot where they hit it with a grinder then didn't fill/grind/buff it out before plating. Again you need to get down and look at it straight on to see it.
The plating is fine.
My overall opinion is: they're as good as the hundreds of thousands that were cranked out of the factory in '69 - they were never as good as what people expect when they have them redone.
At Carlisle I took a close look at AMD's. They're no better. You might get a flawless set if you could hand pick from a dozen or so but who'd let you do that !!!
You hit the nail on the head with your post! However, IMHO the AMD's are better than the GoodMarks, most people have forgotten what a "factory" bumper looked like when new, or perhaps never seen one? most have been "spoiled" looking at triple chromed trim and bumpers on show cars over the decades... If you want a factory appearing double plated looking bumper then an AMD or GoodMark or NOS will fit the bill, otherwise if a showcar finish is desired, finding a shop for triple plate (copper) work is then your choice Keystone bumpers are AMD repros that have been "re-finished-chromed" by Keystone facilities And as far as "hand picking" an AMD/GoodMark set, find a local supplier and ask if you can go thru the inventory to search for a "perfect" specimen, I've done it, I just tell them it's best that I walk away with a desired set, rather than constantly returning/rejecting a shipped purchase and aggravating both of us...

I wonder where you'd have to live to have a "local supplier" that would have multiple bumpers in inventory !!

Fortunately for me I have Auto Body Specialties in the neighboring State of Conn, they stock an assortment of AMD, GoodMark, Sherman, and a few assorted other vendors of sheetmetal, fiberglass body panels, bumpers, etc, a little bit of a ride from Mass, but nice to sort thru sheetmetal, bumpers etc, and avoid shipping "rash" from the UPS/FedEx gorillas I also have a Keystone facilities and headquarters in the neighboring towns of Norton Mass and Seekonk Mass, and a Veng warehouse (Division of Keystone) that stocks OEM/collision and repro sheetmetal/bumpers from 1970's to present models I'm sure if you look around you'll find a warehouse or distributor locally?
