What filler rod can I use to attach sheet metal to the rollcage?

You can use .030" 4043 or a small silicon bronze rod should work too.

He said sheet metal?, didn't mention material, likely for steel a 70 series is fine.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

4043 is aluminum. I assume you are welding steel to steel so like jcc said 70 series is fine, but I actually prefer to use silicon bronze as it has a lower melting point and seems to require less total heat input which is always a good thing on sheetmetal.

Sheet metal, I assume steel. Maybe 20 or 22 gauge. Silicon bronze. Lower melting temp, lower tensile strength than ER70. It has a little "give" which helps prevent the sheet metal from cracking at the weld.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Yes 4043 is aluminum. I don't know what I was thinking, night shifts are getting to me. lol

ER70s or silicon bronze.

Thanks everyone. I'll pick up some silicon bronze tonight.

I never had a problem just stitch welding, do you have big gaps? If so make some 1/2x1/2 thin gauge angle, punch some 1/8 holes for the mig or spot weld.
