What is the best method for removing the jack instructions decal on the underside of the trunklid without damaging the paint? The paint and decal are only a couple years old and in excellent condition. Unfortunately, the decal is wrong for the year of the car. When it was painted the wrong decal was installed and I didn't realize it until recently. Should I use a rubber decal wheel or a solvent such as Goo-Gone?

WD40 has worked for me in the past.

This is an air freshener.

For whatever reason known only to the gods, it works awesome for label softening & adhesive remover.

heat it with a hair dryer and slowly pull it off.

can't you glue the correct one over the incorrect one? Aren't they the same size?

Of course if the glued decal is still nice and straight, because with time they get wrinkled with the heat

In the past I've used a wet sponge or wash cloth and once it started to wrinkle, just use my thumb nail to slowly scrape it off.

The correct decal is slightly smaller the the one installed so I won't be able to cover it up. I will try the air freshener trick. Citrus has a natural glue removing property.

I use n-heptane. Not sure if it's available in that name off a store shelf.

Over the counter stuff that I have used and had success.
Wd-40
Goo gone
Liquid wrench
Pb-blaster
But n-heptane works better than these

The correct stuff for the job..A hair dryer or heat gun to pull the vinyl plus this stuff and it's an easy job with no potential damage...
