I received the Gen 3 Victor heads directly from Edelbrock a week or so ago after waiting for them for over 5 months due to some changes Edelbrock made to the heads. I spoke with a engineer at Edelbrock about the changes made to the Victor heads. The engineer said the ports and combustion chambers were not changed however the following changes make these Victor heads different from the Gen two castings. The solidification process of the heads is more controlled than the previous process. The benefits are a more consistent casting with less impurities in the aluminum. The center rocker shaft stand on the heads is thicker by 3/16 in order to better handle the emence spring pressures seen in some full race applications. One of the heads I received had some core shift however I'm moving forward with this set of heads. Here are the flow numbers out of the box Future posts will detail the changes made to the heads with new flow numbers 100 in 77.2 / ex 55.7 200 136.4 / 110 300 196 / 143.3 400 251 / 188.3 500 295.5 / 201.2 600 314.8 / 207.7 700. 318.4 / 209.3 All flow work performed on a SuperFlow SF-600 at Thunder Performance in Madison Heights, Mi.

Those heads flow very poorly as do many. I see exactly that kind of flowrate on my bench. J.Rob

Man that is PATHETIC. Who the heck do they have designing these heads. You would think that after all these years they would be able to get it so much better out of the box.

They go to the trouble of changing other things on those heads, but couldn't tweak the ports a little?
When they first came out, the Gen 1 heads would flow about 325-330 ootb. The Gen 2 was a big step backwards........and it appears that trend remains unchanged in the Gen 3.
Gen 2 head, ootb, Ede 2.20/1.81 valves, 4.375 bore, radius plate on intake, no flow tube on exhaust, #1 cyl;
Lift--------in/ex .100---71.9/ 52.7 .200--135.9/99.7 .300--196.4/143.8 .400--249.4/174.8 .500--292.9/187.7 .550--309.9/189.0 .600--296.7/191.0 .650--304.2/191.7 .700--317.5/192.9
And....... If those numbers werent bad enough...... I could see the way the bowls/chambers showed a little core shift....... That the numbers would likely get progressively worse as you worked your way down to the other end of the head. Same head as above, #7 cyl:
Lift---------in/ex .100---64.2/51.0 .200--126.1/104.1 .300--183.4/143.8 .400--238.9/167.4 .500--281.6/174.8 .550--297.4/176.0 .600--311.8/176.0 .650--302.4/176.0 .700--308.7/176.0

The Gen 2 heads I ported for Brad H had what I consider ridiculously small bowls.
I ended up making them about .300" larger in diameter than as cast.
IMO they should be cast with the bowls around 2.00 int/1.64 ex.
They're supposed to be race heads....... They don't need to be great for a guy running a .480" lift cam, so the bowls/ports should be configured towards high lift race applications.

Are those Max Wedge Victors? If so, the flow numbers look pretty weak when compared to a Trick Flow head. Any chance the guy has Trick Flow numbers on the same bench? It would be nice to do a comparison if he does. Std port. He does not have Trick Flow heads to flow.
