Well, I started with what I thought was a almost rust free Alabama car. After stripping the cheap but decent looking green paint job off the car, I wasn`t really that surprised at what we found. The car had be hit on the drivers side door post to just forward of the fuel filler door. They must have used parts from another wrecked Charger as the door was from a burnt orange 70 (door lock hole was found under the door pad), door pillar, inside rear side window framework, and two sections of rear quarter panels were scabbed in and the welding was horendous and there was tons of bondo! There were also some very poor repairs made to the passenger side rear quarter due to rust issues. It was all hidden under lots of bondo. Also the trunk pan was replaced at some point which I assume was due to rust and it looked like a beginner installed the two piece pan. Anyways, I bought two rear quarters and a one piece trunk pan from AMD. The trunk pan was perfect. Although the rear quarters were nice out of the box, they needed lots of massaging to get them right. All of the major welding and metal work is now done and done right. I was lucky in one sense, both doors, both fenders, the roof, the floor pans, the dutchman panel, the cowl, all the window channels, the hood, rocker panels, frame rails, the raer panel, front valance, and the deck lid were absolutly rust free and only required minimal work to make them perfect. The car is going to be quadruple black, (black paint, black vinyl top, black interior, and a matte black rear tail stripe) so everything has to be perfect in order for the car to look right as black will show any imperfections in the body work. Enjoy the pics and I`ll keep you folks updated when possible.
Nobody gets in to see the wizard! Ain`t no way! Ain`t no how!

Looks like a lot of work! Sounds like the car will be super cool when done. Its kind of weird how much the front of a charger and coronet are the same with the fenders and hood off. For a minute there it looked like you had my coronet!
Its not primer its perma gray.

My thoughts as well. Looks like you got the quarters dialed in pretty good. Did you replace them up to the sail panel or just cut in what you needed?

They were completely replaced up to the sail panel. That joint lined up perfectly. The panels are decent but needed quite a few hours to make them right. The panel thickness is great. There were lots of high and low spots all over the panels but for the price of the panels I think they are a great bargain. The car is now truly a no rust car.

Looks great but just wanted to let you know there is a new forum for members projects where you can keep us all up to date. You may want to repost in that section.
Thanks for the heads up, I didn`t realize the change. If the Mods can move this post I would appreciate it. I`ve been away from the computor since 12/6/08 taking care if my very ill Mom down in Florida. I just returned to Maine on 2/18/09. I spent the last two and half months getting her home sold, car sold, and moved all of her belongings up here. Now I have to get this place ready for her. She is no longer able to be alone. She`s a tough old girl who stuck it out alone down in Florida for the last 3 years since my Dad died. I was glad I had the oportunity to be able to help her out.

that's gonna be sweet. If all you had to replace was the 1/4s and trunk, then you're still ahead of the game.I'd take that anytime over floors, frames, roof, tc. keep the pics comming!

Very nice! I know you'll be glad to get it done! It's always encouraging to see your project in primer, though. Mark
