this is the 2nd time out & nitto's just wont hook, but I had fun in my 4100lb AC, overdrive 68 Charger, it was a spin fest again, you can see I wrote the density altitude down for each run, & the what the car should run at sea level air, it was hot & we had a 20 mph head wind, still could not do any tuning cause NO traction, but I am pleased with the MPH.

I used to have a fox body mustang that would run 12.30s on slicks. For my street tires I had run Nittos(275/50/15) and BFG plain old radial TAs in the same size. The nittos hooked better on the street but I ended up having way better luck at the track with the plain old BFG radial.

I have had great luck with the mickey thompson drag radials on my Barracuda.

If the Nitto's are in good condition then keep them in the 18-24 lbs realm. Too much front weight bias, so keep it simple to work out the bugs. I hope you have the Calvert Ranchos for rear shocks set at 5 or 6. Try 300 lbs of bagged sand(contractors bagged sand that in HD bags with metal twist ties). 100 pounds over the right rear wheel and the remainder evenly spaced and the end of the trunk. This should gives you a base line.

The Nittos are a great street and highway tire. I've found they don't stick too well to a rubber coated surfaces. I go to the track so rarely that it would be hard for me to justify shelling out $ for a set of dedicated slicks. They've closed nearly all the local tracks around here. It's over a 2 hour ride to the closest ones.

Those are some very good times for a heavy car with those gears and limited traction. Nice build.

This is my daily driver & I agree the nitto works great for that, & so far made it to the track twice in a years time, new slicks & rims are out of the budget right now, disc brakes in the front is my next project. the track is an 80 mile round trip for me, 85mph with the ac blowin cold on I-10 west smile

You say over drive, is this a stick or auto tranny?
If stick good luck on hooking that rascal up on radials at the track shruggy Slipping the clutch may work well, or bog it with real low RPM on the line and hope it sticks luck

It is an A518 auto overdrive.

You should be able to hook fine on a good tire. Does it have much front end lift for weight transfer ? Myself all I use is SS springs with the older non adjustable shocks and a 9" radial slick. I found as long as I make sure I stage in the grove which is the marks where all the cars are launching then I hook great even on radial slicks. But its important to stage in the tracks where all the cars have been launching for the best hook for me. At the 119 corrected mph thats low 11's with good hook. Whats the combo if you dont mind me asking ? Maybe you should try a better tire ? Good luck , Ron

It's definitely making power, you've not nice mph. Nothing broke and you and the car made it back home, and it sounds like you had a good time anyway. also like Ron I'm interested to hear the combo.

I have the 555"R" on my b body, but I only use them for street. For strip I've always switched to Hoosier quick time pro/bias/wrinkle wall cheater slicks.

Down here what the people with street tires do is to launch from the side where it is plain asphalt, rather than the treated area, seems to work well in that situation.

Very nice combo. I used a 440 Source kit with the 4.15 crank and D-dished pistons for 10.6 comp. I am at 493 cubes. You have the Stealth heads working good as my basic EZ heads are just opened up a little by Dwayne Porter and flow 329 @ .700. I also run a solid flat tappet cam. Nice looking and running Charger. Ron

512ci, cold air conditioning, overdrive, mild gearing, sounds great. I like what you did with the air Pan for the scoop, that's a different approach and looks good.
