Looking at a 65 (supposedly) Barracuda.
Looking at the stainless Vin plate in the door jamb.Rivets missing,plate glued on.Looks like someone tried stamping V8 in front of the numbers which are 52641785. Where did this plate
come from? Thanks

It should be spot welded on in 65

The first 2 digits are stamped differently than the rest, the plate is spot welded on with the 2 holes left empty.

V8 = V8 Barracuda
5 = 1965
2 = Hamtramck, MI assembly plant
641785 = VIN serial number

Hamtramck a-bodies started at 500001 ** 641785 would be 141,785th a-body assigned VIN March '65 build

A 65 Plymouth Barracuda, that is what you were asking about isn't it?

Agreed, they stamped the first 2 digits suspiciously different. Way back On another site the DMV would not accept the sale when they inspected it cuz they thought that that was a fraud & the guy went online & downloaded some pics /info & showed it to them that confirmed to them that that was normal. Tho "V8" would make a person skeptical. might be just a coincidence. Is it a V8? Or was it if not original (has a dropped crossmember).

I think you're in good shape (ID wise). EDIT I think that it is "V8" is just a coincidence.

No issues, VIN is correct. twocents

yes "V8" is a bit of coincidence

V = Valiant or Barracuda (Plymouth A-body) with a V8
8 = Barracuda (if A-body) or TAXI (if B or C-body)

FYI: first digit is "1" for a /6 Valiant or Barracuda
