Since I am assuming both are 727s, the shifter linkage should work fine assuming all of the correct bosses are present on the new trans. I have seen some transmissions that have more or less bosses cast into them depending on original application. Just make sure your new trans has all the same ears as were used on the old one.

I changed my ebody from 318/904 to 440/727 and no problems with linkage. I even used the same kickdown linkage for the carb to trans. Hope that helps.

I pulled a floor shifter/console out of a 904 equiped car and put it into a 727 equiped car, everything worked perfect.

I used a kickdown rod from a 340 motor 727 application on a 383 motor 727 and it worked fine.
