finally got decent weather to get the car out and do the maiden voyage on the new trick flow headed 512 and was very happy with the resuls, right out of the trailer it went 6.22@108.6 in the 1/8th mile, second pass was a little slower at 6.29@108.6 because of slippage on the line,(I failed to check the tire pressure and it was a little higher than it should of been by 2.5 pounds), so I footbraked both passes had 31* timing and shifted at 6200 to start out and the plugs are a little hotter than I usually run and the carb is a little fat so it's tunin' time. up

yes, first thing is change oil and filter and put the colder plugs in, need to change the idle bleeds and clean up the idle a little then start working on the timing which should clean up the jetting a little before I put the AF sensor in and start charting that. wrench

night and day difference, car pulled hard all the way thru but this is only 1/8 mile, next weekend at the Chrysler Power Classic at National Trails will be 1/4 mile so we will see, but I anticipate it to get better from here because I know there are a few things that I intentionally left conservative.

If you bring the timing up a bit it may be happier and the afr's will change............I run an NGK 7 or 8 street/strip at 12.1.1 and VP-100 at the pump............. thumbs Good first outing and welcome to the BB zone............ beer

Dam good for first time out - a little more timing and figure out your jetting - solid 9.60 car!

Sounds like a pretty good start to me. Keep chipping away at it and watch those numbers drop.

thanks guys,
Thumper, thats why I am going to pull the timing up a couple and then plug in the o2 sensor and start recording because I know that will change things.

Wyoming,it is a good feeling, even better when I h
changed the oil and filter and there was nothing in it in terms of debris.

Ted, I was at 2938# but probably a little havier than when the smallblock was in it.

Mopar Dave, compression is at 12.3 and cam is a bullit grind,,.690 lift both int@exh and I believe it's 272* duration but I would have to look at the card again.

DoubleD, I have wanted to do this for some time and now I wonder why I waited,,,,,oh now I know why,,MONEY!

Al, I was scared to death my first pass, by half track it went away.

Yes John, I will turn the wick up a little, hope I get to bring it to Keystone next month for the BGR race, I got vac time scheduled for it.

thanks dartman, your mill is more potent than mine as i have 11 to 1 comp and a 270* with .650". i figured mine would be done by 6500, according to yours it should be done by 6000. it will last a long time like that. good luck in your tuning, should be a fun mill for sure.

Dave, the 6200 rpm shift point is a safe number I picked and used for my shift-noid it hasn't been tested to find where it likes and runs its best, once I get the timing and carb where it likes then I will work on the shift points, I have in my head that it is going to like somthing closer to 6500-6700, guess we will find out sometime soon. up

eventually I will get it maximized but I also want to know what to do to make it slower to run some 10.00 stuff, also I can see right now that I better think about getting the chassis certified and a licence also,,,,what was I thinking? shruggy

I tried to get some pics of you making some passes yesterday, but I was too close to the track and just got the scoop and roof over the wall. Sounded good.
