Hey guys I'm posting for an older friend of mine without a computer. He has a 1978 Dodge Magnum 9k original miles with two speed wipers that quit working. Upon inspection of the wiper motor we found some plastic pieces literally that turned to dust..We found a new re-engineered ? 75-79 B body wiper repair kit on ebay that best we could tell were what his used to look like before it turned to crumbles..The kit came with no instructions but after looking at the pieces and the crank arm it looks like maybe this repop kit is for 3 speed wipers. Is there anyone familiar with this issue and is there anyone that makes the plastic cam and other pieces for the 2 speed wipers? Sorry for being long winded and thanks for any help!!

Steve

Not that this answers your question but I read a while back (unless that has changed since) that the repro pieces didn`t hold up very well.

With "1978 Magnum" in the title, I'm sure Bill, the MagnumGuy, will be by with some input.

I know the plastic bits fail. But I don't know the interchange between 2 and 3 speeds.

I'll send Bill a text and see if he can tell you more.

I don't believe there's any difference in the 2 sp or 3 speed w/intermittent wipe.

If you bought the recent eBay piece I believe those will work. I will dig around, I have a non-plastic bushing repair "how to". I will post it when I find it.

Tell your friend to get a computer and join my Magnum page on Facebook.

I'm rejuvenating this thread for a friend who has a '78 Monaco. His car had the same problem as the OP's Magnum, and he was wondering about the eBay kit that I've linked below.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mopar-75-76-77-7...W-/401103373624

The description is vague... does anyone know how difficult it is to install, if any special tools are required, or if it is a decent solution? Of course, if there is a better solution out there, he'd like to know about that as well.

Thanks!

Relatively easy. Once your done, you'll say, overall, not so bad. 1st time doing anything is a PIA.

Post the pics of what you need, ive several two speed arms I will never use after converting my stuff to three speeds, ect.

Ive seen the ebay prices in the silly 20-40 dollar range, I just cant see it.
