Heck yea. That will do the trick. I did the same thing by getting running on my stock block motor then moving to a good block when I felt I had a handle on the thing

I built a similar engine, with a 440 block. Has a 4.500 fueler crank, 7.061" Nascar rods (they are super wide!!) and KB280 hyper pistons, with a rollercam 260 @ 050 and .625 lift. 4 of the rods needed some grinding on the half of the bolthead on one side and all the other cleared. Found out when engine was being assembled and locked when turing over.....I would recommend a really good timing chain or gear drive to avoid interference issues. Good luck!!

I've run BME 426 forgings with 4.5" stroke. They've cleared 292@.050"cam in my Mega Block. Minimal clearancing at the bottom of the bore, internal oil pickup is trimmed off
