I had the trunk panel trim plate re-chromed. I will be painting it myself. My question is how should I mask off the letters PLYMOUTH on the panel? I considered tape and a razor but I don't want to scratch the chrome. Any ideas? Thanks Larry J

Just did mine.
For that step, I put vasoline in the letters, cleaned around the letters and painted argent.
Cleaned vasoline out after painting.
Filled in the black and let dry.
Then lightly wiped the top of the letters off with thinner to expose chrome.

There is a product called "liquid mask". problem is its likely only sold by the gallon.

You could also use the latest and greatest removable Plastic Dip spray. Spray the letters, trim them and shoot your panel then remove the rest of the plastic dip.

I have used liquid mask in the past. Vasoline I had considered as well my concern with gasoline was clean up and the lines not being crisp? Thanks for the replies I will post pics when done.

Masking frisket is available at any decent art supply store in small bottles.

I tried it once and had average results with it. Just plain tough to obtain a crisp masking line on small scale things.

Hi,I would like to know who refinished your trunk finish panel, looks great also the approximate cost, being here in jersey the cost to have this done is quite high. Thanks

Pin striping tape, or else lay out strips of tape on a piece of glass, tile, or some similar hard clean material, and use a ruler and razor/x-acto knife, etc. and cut your own thin masking tape strips.

X2, I had to "convert" a Sport Satellite tail panel for use on my GTX because my original was so bad.
