I alway use used plugs, fire it up , check for leaks, warm it to temp, tune it in, shut it off and check the valve adjustment, replace the plugs with new. I have found by doing this it doesn't contaminate the plugs with the extra oil from the assembly. Just the way I do it, others may differ.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

For break in I use the colder NGK "BKR8E" Stock Number R5671A-8/4554 https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=10044The step hotter BKR7E stock number 5791 seems easier to find, and cheaper at summit racing. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ngk-5791I forgot to mention these are the shorter "ISO" type plugs that have the shorter distance from seat to plug wire tip (50.5mm) vs the Longer JIS (53.0mm) length. The shorter length helps #2 plug wire to inner fender clearance on the 440. The starting letters "BC" would be the JIS length.
