What plug would you guys recommend for 511 cam break in? Inexpensive would be fine i assume . i use an ice ignition and they recommend non resistor plug, but would that matter for break in purposes only? Thanks

I don't remember the details of your motor, compression ratio or cylinder heads and what fuel your going to use help shruggy
Colder will foul sooner, hotter will burn hotter work
If it is a aluminum headed BB with 3/4 reach plugs with a 5/8 inch body I would probably look at Champion C9YC(maybe a RC9YC) or a Autolite #3933 twocents

again the answer for plug applications is the NGK tech line they answer first ring and if you know your CR they put you on the money first time--best in the business

I alway use used plugs, fire it up , check for leaks, warm it to temp, tune it in, shut it off and check the valve adjustment, replace the plugs with new. I have found by doing this it doesn't contaminate the plugs with the extra oil from the assembly. Just the way I do it, others may differ.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

For break in I use the colder NGK "BKR8E" Stock Number R5671A-8/4554
https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=10044

The step hotter BKR7E stock number 5791 seems easier to find, and cheaper at summit racing.

I forgot to mention these are the shorter "ISO" type plugs that have the shorter distance from seat to plug wire tip (50.5mm) vs the Longer JIS (53.0mm) length. The shorter length helps #2 plug wire to inner fender clearance on the 440.

The starting letters "BC" would be the JIS length.

I use NGK 6987 in my 470 engine with similar compression ratio. The 6987 has an extra long projected nose and an extra wide gap. It is also a fairly inexpensive plug. It is a factory plug for some of the newer cars. I've been running this plug for a few years now in different engines. I haven't had any problems yet with it but you probably need a decent ignition system to fire the big gap.
