I am putting a deepened 340 oil pan on my 416 stroker. Can I use the new style 1 piece oil pan gasket, without it leaking?
Or do I have to use the old style gasket with the 340 pan?

Not sure there is one, the one piece magnum pan gaskets are 360 size.

They are magnum sized, not 360 sized.

360 sized implies it will fit a LA 360, it will not.

It will fit all Magnum engines though, both the 5.2 and the 5.9.

Last time I did a 340 engine I looked all over for a one piece pan gasket but didn't find one. So unless someone tooled up to make one recently there is no such thing. The Magnum and LA 360 gaskets are close but not identical. I know some people interchange them but I think the dimensions are slightly different.

You have to do more than just use the magnum gasket on an LA 360, it will leak.

I forget what you have to do though.

That one piece magnum gasket that is sometimes sold for all 360 by SCE...

WILL LEAK a bunch.

Been there, done that.

Guys,
Thanks a lot. I did put a 360 one piece gasket on a magnum 360, with an old style truck pan, and it leaked like crazy. I used a magnum pan on it, with the one piece gasket, and it doesn't leak a bit in my Dakota.
So thanks for the clarification on the 340 style pan. I guess I'll just use the old style gasket, and make sure to install it correctly.
Thanks again,
Dan

I don't think they are made anymore but Miladon made a 1 piece LA 360 style. I have one on my car now and doesn't leak. it was around $40
