hemid68 OP member H Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 144 Western Ohio - formerly Southe...	I am putting a deepened 340 oil pan on my 416 stroker. Can I use the new style 1 piece oil pan gasket, without it leaking? Or do I have to use the old style gasket with the 340 pan?

They are magnum sized, not 360 sized. 360 sized implies it will fit a LA 360, it will not. It will fit all Magnum engines though, both the 5.2 and the 5.9. AndyF I Win A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 31,000 Oregon	Last time I did a 340 engine I looked all over for a one piece pan gasket but didn't find one. So unless someone tooled up to make one recently there is no such thing. The Magnum and LA 360 gaskets are close but not identical. I know some people interchange them but I think the dimensions are slightly different.

I did put a 360 one piece gasket on a magnum 360, with an old style truck pan, and it leaked like crazy. I used a magnum pan on it, with the one piece gasket, and it doesn't leak a bit in my Dakota. So thanks for the clarification on the 340 style pan. I guess I'll just use the old style gasket, and make sure to install it correctly. Thanks again, Dan
