Mark, I Haven't seen one in maybe 20 yrs....looked like a clone of the Eddie Chevy SB in line IIRC.....If I remember '66' is the year they came out (pre 340 days) so the port cross-sections will likely be 273/318 sized so I'm not sure how it would do on a stroker, (so the 1500-6500 would have been for a 273 so that would be about what idle, to 5000 on a 410" motor? ) maybe best suited to a nostalgia rod or a MILD stroker, can't imagine it working better on a big cube motor than a good single plane.

I`m pretty sure it is the small 273-318 port design. I knew a guy who had the intake welded and the ports were raised to the 340-360 size.

D66 is for the 340/360. There was a separate manifold for the 273/318. I believe that one was a D64. The D66 is an excellent hot street manifold. True, an RPM will make more power but the D66 is still very very good. Its nice to be different- everyone runs a single carb. Back in the day more carbs was the ay to build more power. The D66 is better than the Offenhauser. The Offenhauser is still in production and available new. I have one. The Offy is a single plane and is meant for the 273. I was told that because it is a single plane it still works great on a 340/360. (An Edelbrock tech told me that) I will use mine with two 500 Eddies. I bet on a hot 360 if you compared the Perf RPM against the D66 with two good 500s that the power of the RPM would not be that much better than the D66. The D66 power range is similar to the RPM. Of course it doesnt have the air gap.

This shows the D-66 as an early 273 intake. That would mean small ports. www.victorylibrary.com/mopar/edel.htm

Check out the selling price on this D66. Not sure how much the air cleaner effected the bidding. Still stupid money.
I've owned 3 over the last couple years and sold them in the $275-300 range.

Looks like the aircleaner is fiberglass...
What are those people on crack? That's a cool intake but you would have to be insane to pay that. You could do a complete 6 pack and have money left over...

Wow the D66 pricing is more than crazy. My Offy was $280 new in 2003. Edelbrock saw fit to bring back the RB 2x4 CH28 in the eraly 90s- It would be nice if they would do the same with the smallblock 2x4- in 340/360 port size.

I was very dissappointed how the Offenhauser dual quad did on the Mopar magazine 383 dyno test. Very non exciting numbers- even against manifolds of the same era. Offy claimed their designs privided equal mixture thru out the rpm range. I know my setup will leave some on the table but the looks of a low rise dual quad on a V8 is intoxicating.

I acknowledge that the 350/454 chevy outsell the smallblock mopar. However, mopars are very popular and even common. I bet more of those mopars run a 360 over the 440. They brought back the 2x4 for the 440 some 19 years ago. I wish they'd do the same for the 340/360. Or at least a functionl professional products dual carb version.
