One of the most interesting stories in the development of the 426 Hemi was when they asked Harry Weslake to help them. He flys over from England and they go to the airport to pick him up. On the way back to the office he perfectly describes the Gen III chamber and the advantages. But nobody heard him because they felt the chamber design was cast in stone. They knew the early Hemi chamber would work and they didn't have time to go on a radical chamber redesign.

I remember hearing about some involvement from HW, but didn't know that was part of the discussion. Intresting stuff.

Remember the Boss 429 Ford motor had a similar chamber instead of being a true Hemi open chamber. Roush could not get it to run with the 426 so he opened the chamber up into a full Hemi design and wala... he made more power...

I've asked this same question on hear in the past and didn't get much of a reaction from what I remember. Everyone moans and complains about the weight of a Hemi piston, Gen III'ing a Gen II chamber will solve all of that and give some quench. It baffles me it's never been done, but it sounds like someone finally is. As long as you don't shroud the valve I can't see it being a hinderence?

The Brad heads you are talking about (I believe he call those his "fat" heads) are basically a D-5 chamber, which is shallower and I believe around 100cc.
