The oil for the roller tip comes from a hole in the rocker right at the shaft. So it has to squirt all the way out to the tip. When you start it cold, the oil does not get out there until it thins out. I burned up a bunch of rocker tips before I switched to 5W30 oil, and made the groove in the #4 cam journal larger to provide more oil volume to the rockers. The Stage V rockers from FHO have pressure oiling right out to the roller. So they are better. Below is a picture I took with the engine running when I was diagnosing the issue with the MP rockers. It captures the little squirt of oil that is intended to oil the roller. (see red arrow)

I just bought a set of Stage V rockers and they did not have the oiling holes. We drilled the holes and grooved the bushings. I was kind of disappointed spending 1200.00 for rockers and had to drill the holes.

an8sec70cuda and Hemi Joel have the same as mine.I think they are DLI that were sold through direct Connection.Joel, would you clarify where the oil hole is?? My comp lifters have PR oiling ability,so I sent oil up the exhaust side only.

Just curious.......do the oem rockers have a "better"(different ?) way of oiling the valve tip/spring? Or do they also rely on an indirect splash of oil coming from pretty far away to get the job done......like it appears to be with the DLI rockers?

I looked through some pics of the OE rockers and didnt see any holes where they are oiling the valve side of the rocker. At least there didn't appear to be any from what I could see.
Looks like the valve tip/guide/spring all got oiled by splash/mist.

Joel, how about the OE exhaust rocker...... Is there a hole on the spring side of those as well?
Looks like the pushrod oiling hole on the DLI exhaust rocker is pretty far away from the pushrod.
