That's kind of bummer, the gold cars look great. And you would stand out in a sea of "popular" color cars.

Here are a couple of before pics of my steering column. It's my next subassembly rebuild. I'll post some after pics as I progress. Everything should clean up ok except for the wheel, it has some major cracks. If anyone has a decent one for sale shoot me a PM. I can repair some small cracks if need be.
Thanks,Rob

We got some really nice weather here today, so I took advantage of it and started to sandblast the dash. When I brought it back in to blow it off I noticed what you see in the pic on the back side to the left of the steering column. Amazing it didn't blast off. anyone else ever notice this during a restore ? Seems it was a note to the paint shop. Just thought it might be of some interest.

Here are some pics of the completed steering column. Go easy on me. I'm not a pro, just want to be done with the rust and grime. And be presentable when installed.

Looks good, I just took mine apart for my '68. Started painting but will hopefully finish up next weekend. Did you have to buy anything parts wise for this column? I need to find a few trinkety things, like the little pointer for the gear indicator and a blinker switch. I know yours is a '70 and a little diffferent but where did you get parts if any? Thanks and keep up the good work. Doing the little things now will make it that much more enjoyable once everything comes together.

What did you use on the shaft? Polish, paint?

Looks real nice.

I was lucky and didn't need to buy anything. But I have seen the switch you need on ebay. For the shaft I cleaned it, then sprayed it with Rust-oleum appliance epoxy (7887 stainless steel then cleared it.

Thanks,Rob

I'm doing the same on my 68. To take the column apart do you take the dog leg on the engine side off or did you take the upper bearing off to take the steering wheel collar off?

I can't quite figure out which end need disassembled to take the column completely apart.

Nice work and clean car by the way.

You need to take the top apart. There is a snap ring and a c clip on the steel shaft. And you have to press the bearing off. There is a special tool but I didn't have one so I had to make up a jig with some c clamps. Be carefull the manual stresses several times do not hammer on it. Due to the plastic shear pins in the column. If you go to the mopar muscle web site. You may be able to find an article on one they did. It was pretty helpfull.
Good luck, Rob
