I know this is likely elementary, but how can I set the preset buttons on a 70's Mopar radio?

Turn radio to desired station, pull button all the way out, push button all the way in. Done

Yea, yea. The vehicle is 12 years older than I am, and it's not the most intuitive process. I'd rather not tear up a 40 year old 8-track radio over not asking a stupid question.

Rite of passage, like figuring out how to remove the stem from a Mopar headlight switch, or snapping off your first left hand thread lug nut...

Lots of stories behind this last one I would bet.

Of course, it wasn't that funny when we were learning things hard way.

I was wondering the same thing. Iirc my 85 d150 still had push buttons, but my 85 w250 had the electronic preset.

OK old timers, who remembers when FM was new?

Speaking of old school button tricks. How about pulling out the chrome a\c button on the panel to turn off the compressor but still keep the air flowing?

My Diplomat would allow that, not sure if the 65 Cuda does, might because I do have a later model switch in it.

I remember my dad teaching me radio button setting in the 70's and thinking what cool technology.

Huh. I remember playing with one on the shelf years ago trying to figure out how to get it to save the station. Holding the button and turning the knob, then releasing the button didn't work. Now I know why laugh2
