Ok, planning on using front brake stuff from a 73 duster on a 69 satellite. Satellite is currently manual drum , duster was power disc. Could I use the power booster and master in the satellite without modification or shortcomings (pedal ratio, etc.)? Also, the only thing not saved from the duster was the combination valve. Whats the best source for one? Thanks for any input on what Im sure is an entirely over asked question.

You have to use a Disc/drum master cylinder, because you need more fluid pressure to operate the front discs.

Find an OEM prop valve...

I like to use the prop valves out of Diplomats, there are two to choose from, 10" or 11" rear drums, just get the one that matches your rear drums.

Now that you mention that, it rings a bell from way back that that is indeed the best choice & another adv of an OE unit is you can retain the OE warning light

Because any aftermarket adjustable proportion valve only provides one of several functions that a disc drum combo needs to work properly. It is a tuning aid, not a replacement.

The A-body booster will not fit the Satellite.

I put changed to front disc's on my 70 Sport Satellite - it had manual drum brakes, left it manual disc brake - used the aluminum master cylinder with adapter, from Dr. Diff. It is not hard to brake and works great !

FYI . . . on my 70 300HURST I changed to disc also, but never touched the master cylinder - other than to make sure the check valve was not in the master cylinder. Knowing the master was drum brake, I just made sure to check the reservoir monthly, and never was an issue - pain in the butt, but not an issue . . .

Ok, next question. If I elect to stick with manual brakes, what master should I use? Dont want to have to buy an adapter of sorts if I dont have to.

I used 73 disc setup 3 times and all's I used was the spindles..bought everything else new from napa. No prop valve..no power booster...and they work fine

Ok....what did you order a master to fit?

I used a Diplomat MC on my car with zero prop valve. I have 73 Charger discs on front and Wilwood Dynalite on the rear.
Car stops on a dime with no issues.
I used to have 4 wheel drums with a Volare cast iron master with zero prop valve and didn't have any issues with that either.
The only reason I switched to discs was I am in the tens now and after I go a few round the drums were starting to fade.
If I were going with some sort of valve it would be the Wilwood.

Mom & Dad had a 76 Valiant with manual disc brakes . . . could probably look for MC for that. Or the FMJ Body cars . . . .
