We were able to make only two pulls today, because the actual schedule isn't until tomorrow, but, the initial results are promising. The first pull was just to check and watch everything, as the motor is brand new. We took the motor to 8000 RPM, and it made 1207HP. The second, at last pull of the day, we re-torqued the heads, re-checked the lash, and did nothing else. I am not going to give the actual number, but, it was WAY over 1250HP @ 8800RPM. We are thinking this thing will make every bit of 1310-1320HP tomorrow, after we start tuning it, in detail. Thank you very much to those of you who have contacted me, to check the status of this motor. You guys kept me pumped up about doing this. Off to bed, to catch some well-deserved zzzzzz's.

what's the combo?
2007 Alan/Roy Johnson PS Hemi, with a little lower compression, and nowhere near the cam that the actual PS guys are running.
O.K., now I am really off to bed.

Chris, congratulations. Which class are you going to run with this new Bullet? Where did you dyno it and who is doing the work on it Are you willig to share any of the specs on the motor ? Just curious on what parts and size, intake, carbs and C.I.

Ok!! We will guess then. Way over 1250, but not 1310, that comes tomorrow.
I will say 1280, and I bet I'm with in 10! Let me know tomorrow if I'm right.

Chris, The PSCA just found out about your combo and now they have banned that cylinder heads/engine combo. They notified the WCHRA and now they banned it also for ProStock!!! Because its a Mopar!!! JUST KIDDING!!!!!! That would ROYALLY SUCK!! Sounds about right for the Mopar guys though. It wont be until NEXT years season that they ban your combo. LOL! Better start working on a slant 6 combo for the 2010 season. They wont bother you then. As long as the Mopars arent "TOP DOG" you wont get bothered.

Cab - The car is still going to be in Hot Street. We took the motor to Panella's in Stockton to dyno. The motor is 508", with a skirted J&J block, latest version of the PS Hemi heads(These were the last set that were going to be used on one of Jeg's motors, before they pulled the plug), the intake is a sheet metal tunnel ram by Mike Duke. Carbs are from Gary Williams. Really no expense spared, and it showed on the dyno. The cool part is that there is still room for improvement, as we have a little cam in it, as well as lower compression.

man o man, you built a mon-o-war, Chris.. Excellent !! Still been going back and forth with Moroso, MD, Roy, a couple others.. The sets used by Larry Morgan and AJ last weekend, were the only 2 sets made by Moroso as tests sets, per Roy. Our wires will work, but withot the bottom seal. Kind of need that seal, but they will still work. Just waiting. We will have something.. Glad to hear you not only got fire, but a happy result !! Nice..

hey Chris, looking at your car in your sig..I'm wondering if you plan to get a new scoop. Maybe you alredy mentioned this and I missed it. Congrats again on your success. And kudos for blazing new trails using PS power in our beloved classic mopars!
The SS Hemi scoop will be a goner. I will be using a PS Scoop, which I am not too fond of, but, with a tunnel ram, I have no choice.
I have always been on a mission to show people that a Mopar can hang with "the others". Time will tell, but, I am trying.....

My car is a 1968. Do you remember the "Factory" Race Hemi's in the Darts & Barracudas?
I wouldn't have done this if I didn't make sure it would be a legal motor.

I thought you would have made sure
So you confirmed with them that the PS Hemi head is gonna be ok just because a 68 Cuda came with a hemi head??
That is sooooo cool, you should dominate IF you can hook it up.

Congrats again Chris. Those guys at the top are flying for the weight and looks like you will be a BIG player for sure and once you get it working will have a shot to dominate the class. You still gonna make it to the Mats with the car? Wish I would have known you were in Stockton heck that is just a short drive for me. Would love to have heard that thing and got the chance to BS a little. Panella actually built a B1 motor for a local racer here for a Barracuda as well. On a side note I spoke with Jason on the phone today for about an hour. Super nice guy and gave me some very useful info on the B1 motor. Looks like I will be needing ANOTHER, much looser converter to make it work well in my heap(kinda already figured that out). Think that is gonna have to wait until I get it freshened this winter. DT here is the link for the PSCA Hot Street class, pretty much like Edelbrock Pro Stock in the rest of the country. For the record so to speak here are the current records for the class. IIRC those are both SB powered cars. ET 8.31 MPH 165 http://www.pscaracing.com/Rules/rules_09_hotstreet.html

Al, I actually planned on calling you, but, I left your number in my office. Duh! The car and motor are already at Mandella's, and he is doing his thing! It looks like the MATS event is going to happen. Although, I will be in testing mode, we should still be able to turn it loose after a few passes.
Yes, Pettis is a great guy. He is super talented. You are in very good hands.

What makes me mad is a new BES NMCA Pro Stock conventional headed 525cube big block chevy is making 1200hp single 4 cast manifold.and us Mopar guys have to build something like Chris has here to make that kind of power..with sheetmetal, 2 dominators, and dry sump..
Our ex ProStock heads are the only thing that will run with whats available for chevys. (as you know, Chris) The Predators would get you close to that number if there was a 4.9 bore space version with 2.5" valves.

Engine RPM Torque HP 7400 786.7 1108.4 7500 786.5 1123.1 7600 785.2 1136.2 7700 784.3 1149.9 7800 783.5 1163.6 7900 782.6 1177.1 8000 780.9 1189.5 8100 778.5 1200.7 8200 775.0 1210.1 8300 771.4 1219.0 8400 766.8 1226.4 8500 762.5 1234.1 8600 757.8 1240.9 8700 753.2 1247.7 8800 748.2 1253.7 8900 742.3 1257.8 9000 735.3 *1264.1 9100 727.1 1259.9 9200 716.7 1255.5 9300 704.6 1247.6 9400 691.3 1237.2
(9400 RPM on a dyno is something to see)
1264 is a nice number at that weight it should run 8.0's to 8.20's if you get the combo right..
What kind of compression are you running?
What makes me mad is a new BES NMCA Pro Stock conventional headed 525cube big block chevy is making 1200hp single 4 cast manifold.and us Mopar guys have to build something like Chris has here to make that kind of power..with sheetmetal, 2 dominators, and dry sump..
It will have the cool factor when it is done, cant wait to see it,the only thing that would make it cooler is to put a 5-speed Liberty behind it
About the dyno at 9400..I have done that and you can feel your butthole pucker something fierce..I had the balancer explode at 8400 on the dyno..it spun in the dyno cell for 3 minutes!!!!
Yep, you hit the nail on the head, Chris. It really is a shame that I/We are forced to build something like this, when the Ford & GM guys have so much availability and technology behind them. The folks at Chrysler claim to back the drag racing community, but, to what extent? Oh well, nobody can fault me for sticking with this brand.
P.S. You are also VERY correct on the pucker factor.
Dragula - Pics will be coming, but, it is way more important to get this car ready for the MATS race, at the moment. Fitting one of these in between stock frame rails is interesting, to say the least.

No problemo....I was looking and dreaming of the one for sale in the race parts section after reading about yours...I would do just about the same, lower the compression slightly & cam, switch to E85, run my EFI, and install in my Cuda and go cheppy hunting.
Would love an engine like that, although, it would also have to see some street use. How is the header layout and fitment? Are theses engines packaged smaller than a standard 426 hemi? And what trans are you running with it?

Currently working on the headers, so, I don't have a solid answer for you....yet. The primaries will be 2 1/4 to 2 3/8 stepped to a 4 1/2 Burns Stainless collector. As far as comparison to a "traditional" hemi? I truly don't know. From eyeballing this motor, I would say the older Hemi is still bigger/wider. My trans is a Rossler TH210, Turbo 400. I just sent it back to Rossler, and he installed every single killer part that he currently offers. I will need some piece of mind at 10,000 RPM.
