I think I'm going to look in to seeing what it will take to tint some of the white to match the good old Plymouth White, AKA, W1. Until some time well beyond the forseeable future, funds around here aren't going to be what they once were, now that Monkey Boy is here. So, instead of a shiny new paint job for Elvira AND the Fury, I'm going to go "Pro Patina (TM)" on Elvira. I've already got the paint for the Fury, so that's a done deal. However, the 37-year-old paint on Elvira really is good enough on 90% of the body that I can probably just buff it out and get a decent shine. On the rest of the car, like the hood, DS fender, and bumper filler, I just need to make it match close enough for a driver. That's what she is, after all. So, if I can get the Rust-O to match W1, I'm willing to give this a try. In this photo, her last public outing (Fall, 2004...), she's wearing a Plastikote touch-up spray bomb on the DS fender.

I did that fender in the carport the night before the show, and it turned out OK. White hides a multitude of sins, and the sun shines A LOT down here... BUT, the distinct advantage of rolling it on is that my wife won't have conniptions about me painting in the driveway. Plus, those little 6oz cans are JUNK, I had to throw three of them out at half full because they started puking paint out from under the nozzle. I've got some investigating to do...

I used the 7747 Yellow on a Duster fender...was going well till I screwed it up by doing the two coats then wet sanding and then on the third coat leaving it outside on a foggy cold night...bad One thing I did play with however was using a combo of the roller and then doing the wheel lips with the same color in the Rustoleum spray...I wonder if you could use it to do jambs and hard to get too areas. I did notice the two blended fine.

Want to see true paint quality I could show you my Bee with the original paint on the inner wheel housings and inner door frame with all the nice drips and runs in it. these things were not exactly painted to some show quality out of the box anyway.

i do everything with the roller, the fenders and wheel lips all with the roller, the only place where the brush comes in is when doing the drip rail, the front cowl grill slots, under hood, trunk, door jambs. but even then for the cowl vent for example, i would run the brush in every slot, and then finish off with the roller on top. i also had a spray bomb on hand with the same color thinking i would need to spray a hard to reach area and never used it. even when you do the door jambs for example, i would say 90% can be done with the roller, and the rest you do with a foam brush, finish with the roller last.

Tremclad is an umbrella name the same way we used to use Labor Saver
for
some of our industrial products. The Industrial Enamels, Aerosols,
Epoxies
and Polyurethanes would be rough equivalents to the corresponding
Tremclad
products, although there is not always a direct color or exact product
crossover.

this is my answer from rustoleum. I had asked what is the U.S. equivalent to the Canadian product Tremclad.

I was not thrilled with this answer. Sounds like the politicly correct way to say they are different products. rough equivalents to the corresponding Tremclad
products, although there is not always a direct color or exact product crossover.

I had an 87 Horizon that was chipping paint on the top and was a beater work car. I scuffed the top and shot the Sail Blue Rustolium, about mid-day on the top and it looked well, till I too left it outside and frost got on top, dulled it up after that--so, keep it inside till it's cured.

this looks like the perfect thing for direct to metal auto painting in the U.S.

Grainger Industrial Supply sell a lot of Rustoleum products, there catalog has paint chips too. I'm gonna do my son's Scamp like this when the weather warms up. jwh

Hey I went to Home Depot today they have the industrial enamel in gallons and it call be tinted in any color in a gloss or flat base

I used Rustoleum on a project about 25 yrs ago, it faded pretty quick. I have a guy doing my body work and paint at my house right now. He said we will be painting it next weekend.
