Does anyone have feedback on Prothane Mopar strut rod busings?

Do they fit A, B and E body K-members and strut rods correctly?

Are they durable, or do they disintegrate prematurely?

Cass -- your PM box is over the limit... maybe clear some out?

Cass, I have poly strut bushes from Firm Feel, have had them in the car (E body)now for a couple of years and about 5000 miles, no issues at all if that helps

He asked about Prothane bushings.

Are the FF ones Prothane?

Prothane, Energy Suspension and Whiteline all claim their poly strut rod bushings fit '67-'76 A-bodies, '66-'72 B-bodies and '70-'74 E-bodies.

I don't see how 1 part number from each company can cover all these vehicles.

I can tell you that whatever poly bushing I bought for my 65 A, I want to say Energy Suspension ones but am not 100% sure, are too thick. And yes they were claimed to fit.

Funny thing is, Moog lists the improved design as the same for the 65 or 72 A bodies, but Energy shows different numbers and substantially different designs, RockAuto source.

I'm thinking that, if the hole in the k-member and the rod configuration at the front is the same, they should interchange.

An early Barracuda autocrosser showed how the poly strut rod bushings sold at the time for A-bodies are too thick. They would fit, but pushed the LCA back. He just cut the back one down to the proper size.

Usage of "adjustable" stock-type strut rods (see Firm Feel, others) should allow correction to the location action of the strut rod/LCA.

Use of the proper thickness strut rod bushing saves the cost of an adjustable strut rod crutch.

Exactly. Here's some dimensions from my 67 A. http://www.heritech.org/cuda/bushings.html

Glad you chimed in. Yours is the page I was looking for. Has that modification worked out well?

Yes. Still in there, same pieces. I'm not particularly hard on brakes but lots of miles, some pretty rough. Had the lower control arms off once since doing that to replace lower control bushings. I think I did a mock up check of the strut rod assembly, but the strut rod bushing assembly went back the way I had it.

I think Steve had some more pictures of the various replacement bushings including some with thickness measurements. All I can advise is mock it up, measure it and then fit the bushings as needed or use an adjustable length strut rod.

Sorry I'm not on the BB or forums much anymore, but always glad to share what I can.

addendum: The slicing was done with the aid of a wood lathe. The bushings were supported in the lathe by a short turned wood shaft with a shoulder.
