to start off this is my first post. i have just started the long road to build a nice 440 powered gen 3 single cab Dakota. i recently acquired a base machined block and forged crank along with a bunch of other speed parts. included was a comp cams 21-672-4 cam. the block has a .060 overbore and a forged crank. i also got a new set of edelbrock performer rpm 84cc heads to go with it. my intentions from the start are to build a hot street truck that will be driven to the drag strip every so often. it will have a 727 with an 8 3/4 rear end. so back to my question, is this cam to aggressive for a street vehicle. i know virtually nothing about cam specs and am trying to learn. if you guys need more info i will be happy to provide it. thanks

looks like this is your cam.

gonna need alot of compression, alot of gear and and a loose stall converter.

Comps version of the MP 509 cam.

If your build will include something like headers, 3.91 gears, and at least a 10"(3500 stall) converter...... It will be fine.
I'd recommend a Performer RPM intake and a carb with 4-corner idle.

absolutely headers and that was the gear i was thinking of as opposed to a 4.10 or deeper. would flat tops provide enough compression or is more needed. please forgive the greeny questions.

As long as it's an honest 9.5:1 or higher you should be fine.
