Dumb question but never done it before. Will a regular parts store seal puller work on pulling the front seal from a 904 transmission? Just not a lot of room between the seal edge and the input shaft. Trans is in the car. Thanks for any help.

When installing the new seal, pack the garter spring with grease to prevent it popping off when pounding it in.

This type of puller will save you a few headaches, if you were professionally wrenching for a living.

Pretty sure I would starve trying to do it for a living but you can tell that's a professional tool. John, I will use your tip, I never would have thought about it. I just would have put TF on the lip of the seal. Thanks again.

IMO Lisle is a "name brand" plenty good enough for hobby use.

Sure it is may not be snapon. matco, cornwell or mac etc quality but heads above HF which is at the bottom quality wise as you found out with some tools.
I have used many Lisle tools over the years, sears used to sell some Lisle tools too.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I too consider Lisle stuff of fine quality.
