The Bulge Hood inserts on my hood has been painted in the past. What was the finish it came from the factory with?
I need to do something with them.
I wonder if they would look good Gloss Black

Really!! Mine are painted silver.
Did it matter what the color of the car was or were they all Satin Black?
I am going to have to clean mine up and try a Satin Black and see how it looks!

FYI. I rechromed the hood inserts on my R/T and used wide black tape striping instead of painting. Its tough to get paint to stick to chrome. Looks great.

Thats great except they weren't originally shiney chrome...The metal wasn't polished before plating, it has a grainy/sandblasted appearamce which holds paint pretty well....

Ok while reading this I believe there were 2 different batches of these...I have 2 sets of these. One set which is original chrome and shiny, then another set that was the "dull" finish. I have also seen these around swap meets too like this. The ones that were shiny chrome are pitted the most, the ones that were dull survived much better.

Jim what did you do to your inserts. Paint or did you have them rechromed??
Thats the look I was after. Mine are not in that good of shape but thought I could do a little careful grinding and a little all metal(or similar) to smooth them out where the pits were
Thnx Chuck

First I buffed the chrome edges to a nice shine, then cleaned everything real good, taped them off and painted the centers with Satin Black.

I don't think mine will buff. It looks like thet were spray painted.
I might try cleaning with paint thinner and see if it will come off, then try buffing.

Did you get that clip I sent you a few months back for your fender? I tried to email you and it kept coming back undeliverable. Hope it worked out ok!!
Chuck

Yes. I sent you an email as well thanking you. I changed my email address so it might have been during that time. The new address is in my profile/contact information. Thanks again!
