I am hoping someone can comment about their experiences with replacement glass. We purchased a complete glass kit for a 70 GTX in a grey (smoked) tint. ALL of the side glass has small depressions about every 1.5" on the edges that I am being told is from the tempering process. They are very noticeable more so than in the picture, and I find these to be quite objectionable especially on the top of the front door glass and wing windows? Wish I was a better photographer There are limited sources for the smoked tint glass so it may just be sloppy manufacturing. So my next question is has anyone bought either clear or green tint glass kits from AMD or other sources that did not have these depressions and if so who was the source ? Thanks,

I have recent repro glass on my T/A the shop installed, but I'm pretty sure it's AMD. The edges of the quarter glass have little "scallops" along the edge. That along with the cloudiness/polarization discussed here in another thread makes todays repro glass fairly mediocre IMO. But other than OE it's all we got.
Check out my car show and cruise photo albums here: Show PicsSeeking info on a Mr Norms sold T/A VIN JH23J0B308737. Does it still exist?

If its what I think its from the clamps used to hold the glass as its tempered.. If you look closely you can find them in most if not all stock tempered glass not using a horizontal tempering furnace....

That's exactly why I asked. I went through this issue on my A12 and learned there are only a few glass manufacturers and lots of distributors.
I had the best luck with JRD International. I've heard they are the supplier to ECS but have no verification of that. Your mileage may vary....Good Luck Last info I had JRD International is the supplier to ECS, and if ECS is still using PPG, that's their other supplier...Charley Vahey is the glass "guy" at ECS that you want to talk to should you require any info As for the OP, IMHO your better off dealing with ECS to obtain the best pieces of glass currently on the market, ESC has a large assortment of original glass in stock for use in comparison to the repro glass received to check for shape, curvature, access holes, etc, etc to assure you of the best fit/finish Mike

THANKS a BUNCH to all that responded, I now Know that I am not alone in this quest for quality. Can you post what you end up finding out from ECS or wherever? I'm contemplating at LEAST front and rear glass whether or not to get new or try and clean and polish my originals. Nothing wrong with the originals that I can see as far as cracks. Thanks
