Trying to get oil up to the rockers....I have it everywhere else.
I tried all 4 quardants.......tdc,90,bdc,90...
nothing ... I even tried straight up and down in relation to the crank centerline.... and at a 90 to it as well....
I have done this before and sucessfully....can't seem to strike oil now though....
Nothing on it in the 1969 or 1970 Chassis service manual... I know someone out there knows this....
Thanks.

Before my SR heads that oil through external lines I would spin the motor over with a kicker button clipped on to the start relay as I run the drill clockwise SB and counter clockwise. That seems to be the ticket

counter clockwise BB sorry. or have some turn it by hand as you prime or turn little bit at a time But there may be an exact spot??

Turning with the starter as you prime also gets the lifters pumped up better on a hydraulic cam as then they all get a turn at pressure at a low preload station

Also make sure to have the notches on the end of the rocker shafts down and to the front on the drivers side and down and to the rear on the Rt. (passenger) side of the engine. If they are not installed correctly oil will not be supplied to the top of the engine. Also the top of the engine is oiled alternately according to camshaft rotation with one side getting oil at a time depending of camshaft position to the oil feed to the head.

I'd grab a helper & have him turn the crank slowly w a breaker bar(take plugs out) while you man the drill(CW)

I am using stock 273 heads.
I turned the crank quite a bit and no oil. I do have the rocker shafts correctly located.
I will have an assistant turn the motor over slowly while I run the drill.
I am doing all this BEFORE I install it.
I am asking if anyone knows at exactly what point (degree) do the oiling holes line up ??
If I don't get oil, I will pull the cam out to check and be sure the oil holes are exposed.
Thanks.

I do not know the exact degree but the next SB & BB I do I am going to write it down as it comes up often enough. I hope your head gasket holes aren't blocked.

I don't know if these photos will help. This is from a 426 Hemi.

The red lines represent the oil flow through the cam journal.

This is a picture of the cam bearing from the bottom of the block. The oil supply holes leading to the heads are shown.

You don't need all this about the degrees. If you can't get oil by spinning the pump and either wrenching or cranking the engine with the starter, you have a problem. Either you have something basically wrong in the pump path--plugged passage, etc, a missing plug, etc

Instead of trying and turning 90 deg and trying again.
Try running the pump while you SLOWLY turn the crankshaft 2 full rotations.

What about your other cam bearing? On a SB the #2 & the #4 cam bearings have 2 holes to direct oil topside rather than just (1) cam bearing for BB's. If your other one is dead on like the one in the pic(I would think it is since that one is good), & you have checked your rocker shaft alignment & if your turning the crank slowly by hand(& I'm thinking you are) that pretty much leaves a problem with the head gaskets blocking the(2) holes on each bank.

Is the engine on a stand or in the car? did you check the plugs in the back of the block?

What plugs??

are the hemis the same regarding this????
Also regarding the headgasket holes, I am using 318/340/360 type.
I am fairly sure I looked at the holes when I put it together, But if no oil with an assistant, I may need to pop them again...

you might take off the drivers rocker arm assy & see if you can blow some air in the passage & see if it's coming out at the #2 cam journal, (if so) take the passenger rocker arm assy off & see if its clear to the #4 cam journal. If both are open you wont have to R&R the heads. (If not) your only out a pair of head gaskets
